Marianne is a Partner and UK Chartered and European Patent Attorney at AA Thornton with many years of experience in the patent profession. Her experience ranges from the original drafting of patent applications, through patent prosecution around the world, to conducting oral proceedings at the European Patent Office before the Examining Division, the Opposition Division and the Board of Appeal.
Marianne began her patent career at Johnson Matthey. Whilst there, she helped draft patent applications, prosecute patent applications and defend granted patents relating to exhaust catalysts and hydrogen storage systems. Marianne also provided freedom-to-operate opinions and helped manage global patent portfolios in a range of technical fields.
Since moving into private practice Marianne has gained further experience in chemistry and materials science related fields, including battery technology.In particular, Marianne has prosecuted applications relating to battery management systems and brazing materials.
